The Tower in the trees is located on the edge of the town Janské Lázně in the Giant Mountains. A wooden observation tower offers a spectacular view of the Giant Mountains National park and it also hides a unique underground education center. Take a look into an intricate root systém of trees and learn all about the micro-world of soil and animals.
The Tower in the trees reaches a height of 45m and it is 1,5km long. You can also use a 50 meters long dry slide to get down. The entire trail in the trees is barrier free.
Ski resort Černý Důl offers moderate and wide pistes suitable especially for families with children. Our chalet is located right on the piste in Černý důl ski resort. Just put on your skis and start cruising the slopes! You can enjoy both day and night skiing.
The ski slopes in the Cerny dul ski resort are operated by two chair lifts and a four-seat Family Express chair lift. You will also find the largest ski school in Cerny dul resort, CERNA HORA-PEC. A live park with two carpet lifts, a children ski lift and ski school SkiResort Live will take care of the entertainment for you and your family or friends! There is also a ski rental, babysitting service, a Funline track and a giant slalom track with timer in the ski resort.
Accommodation in the Cerny dul area is also a great strategic point for hiking in the Giant Mountains.
The ski resort Pec pod Sněžkou, with ski slopes on both sides of the valley, is also located near the Skipark Černý důl. The resort offers a beautiful view of the highest mountain Snezka and other ridges of the Giant Mountains. The mountain resort Pec pod Sněžkou offers over 14 kilometers of slopes of all levels of difficulty, Funline track and a giant slalom track with timer and radar.
The Relax Park Pec is the largest entertainment center in Pec pod Sněžkou. It is located under the Snezka mountain peak and offers a great adrenaline bobsleigh ride on a 900m track. Some points if the track are 8m above the ground. The bobsleigh reaches a speed of up to 40 km/h. It is open all year round.
Kids can let off steam in the Lemuria kids arena with a castle bouncer and various monkey bars, slides and trampolines.
Janské Lázně is an important recreational and tourist center of the Giant Mountains, and is a short way off the chalet On the slope. The town is situated at the foot of Cerna hora and is a typical mountain town.
You will gain new energy to ride the slopes or climb the hills both in the winter and in the summer. Keen skiers, cross-country skiers, cyclers or hikers, everyone will find their pleasure. And if you only need to relax, you can just stroll along the spa colonnade or try the local healing springs.
Great trips can also be taken on the other side, in the town of Vrchlabi. If you don´t know how to spend free time in the Giant Mountains, Vrchlabi is the right place to go. Visit the remarkable observation tower Predni Zaly, located 5km as the crow flies from Vrchlabi and offers a spectacular view of the Giant Mountains and its surroundings.
The center of Vrchlabí is popular for its beautiful castle adjacent to a park full of exotic woody plants and small ponds. The interiors of the castle serve as a municipal office, therefore it´s only possible to visit the main castle vestibule and the park.
Vrchlabí also offers great opportunities for skiing. Ski resort Kněžický vrch is operated by a four-seat chairlift Kněžický expres. The ski resort has a lot of snow thanks to snowmaking and is suitable for beginners or families with children. There is also one of the mmost famous snowparks designed by one of the best Czech snowboarders.
The museum of the Giant Mountains is located right in the castle in the town Jilemnice. Several expositions can be seen here: On the White Track – Chapters of the history of Czech skiing up til 1938, Historical-Ethnographic Exposition, From the Life of the Czech Cavalier, or Kavan´s Gallery.
No idea where to set off in the Giant Mountains in in the summer season? The Mumlava waterfall is a great choice and can also be visited in the winter of course. The whole nature around the Mumlava waterfall is magnificient and picturesque, and the waterfall itself is one of the most attractive places for tourists in the Giant Mountains. You can also visit the so-called Devil´s Eyes – holes drilled by water in a granite massif under the waterfall.
